Does A Bachelor In Accounting Have A Standing Chance Against The Falling Economy?
I am planning on attending college and getting a bachelor in accounting, but I am deciding whether I would have a promising future in majoring in Accounting and becoming a CPA (Certified Public Accountant) or not. Some people I have asked say that everyone will always need accountants but I want others opinions as well. Is it a good Idea to major in Accounting? If not what major or career (with an Accounting major) would be good?
Yes, accounting is actually a good field to be in, in good times or in bad times because companies ALWAYS need to keep their books and financial records. (That is, until they go under.) So don’t let the economic news affect you; go after accounting jobs in the businesses or industries that interest you.

especially in times of a troubled economy society is in need of people that excel in accounting and money because for for every person perfectly capable of managing money on their own, there are 5 people looking for some help in that field

Yes, it is a very good idea. I am the Dean of a business school, and I can tell you that this year, despite the bad economy, every single one of our Accounting majors who graduated last week has a job in their field.
